• I turned 30 this year. It was not near as traumatizing as it is made out to be, or maybe I just don’t care enough.
  • I no longer have babies or toddlers. I have ‘small children’. This is much scarier than turning 30.
  • I have clinical depression and social anxiety. I’m not medicated. I need to be. I’ll work on that.
  • If it’s fantasy, science fiction, or horror, I probably like it.
  • If it’s a Japanese  RPG, I’ve likely played it at least once. I actually beat every Final Fantasy from IV until XIII. I didn’t play XIII-2 much. I’m waiting for XV.
  • Due to social anxiety, I much prefer staying in to going out. My ideal night in is a good TV show or book, a bag of Goldfish (which, when you have kids, become easy to justify purchasing) and a Woodchuck (or two).
  • I’ve never been drunk. I don’t plan to ever be drunk. This does not mean I don’t like alcohol as some people seem to think, but rather that I don’t like the idea of being drunk.
  • I sing. I’m actually decent, but I hypothesize that my crippling stage fright is due in part to social anxiety and in part to horrible self esteem.
  • I prefer rock music when I’m listening, but I’ve been known to belt out an eclectic mix of things when singing. I like everything from 70s rock to the present day stuff, and I feel that Stairway to Heaven should always be turned up as loud as I can get it when driving. When I drive alone, I’m always singing.
  • I long for the day when the novel series becomes less popular than the stand alone novel again. Not everything needs to be a series.
  • I read voraciously. It’s bad. I use a Kindle and I buy both paperbacks and hardcovers as required by my never-ending hunger for words. I read fan fiction, original fiction, memoirs, history, science, biographies, and essays.  I go on binges occasionally, and there are times when I spend weeks doing nothing but reading in my spare time. When I need to get away from it all, I fall into a book.
  • I dropped out of high school. I have a GED, but nothing else. Sometimes I hate this about myself, but those times are rarer and rarer as I grow older.
  • I used to photograph things a lot. I prefer older film cameras to digital ones, and I prefer black and white to color. I might do it again sometime.
  • I have a love/hate relationship with my current location. I have days where I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, and days where all I want is to be somewhere else.
  • I swear. A lot. I am a true believer in the versatility of four letter words and their ability to accurately express how I feel at a given moment in time. As you can probably tell, my vocabulary has not suffered for their use.
  • I bake and cook rather well. I hardly ever follow recipes after the first time, and I regularly experiment with tastes. I have an issue with textures, though, which keeps me from eating some things I’m very curious about. Regardless, I still love a good box of Kraft Mac & Cheese.
  • I’m a proponent of women’s and GLBT*QA rights. The former because I have a uterus and I prefer to be in sole ownership of it, and the latter because they’re human, too.
